Become an SBMSA Spirit Coach
-
You’ll be set up for success from the start. Coaches will receive a handbook that includes an example practice timeline, skills each age group should focus on, and plenty of YouTube content for halftime routines and sideline cheers and chants.
-
Training is built in. Our coaches meeting and safety training will take place separately from Spirit Camp so everyone has time to learn expectations and feel confident heading into the season.
-
You get to be part of the fun on game day. Coaches accompany their team to a weekly football game (about 1–1.5 hours), call sideline cheers and chants, and help lead the halftime performance.
-
Practices are simple and manageable. Coaches run one weekly 1-hour practice where they teach age-appropriate cheers, chants, dances, jumps, and stunts. Most of these are already introduced at Spirit Camp or available on our YouTube channel.
-
You’ll have a say in your team. Coaches will be able to choose the football team their spirit squad represents.
-
And remember—coaching is better with a friend! If you’re not totally confident in your coaching ability, grab a friend to coach with you. Our board members are also happy to help you get started and support you throughout the season.
Deadline to sign up is August 9th, 2026
