Spirit Middle School Supplemental Season

SBMSA Football Alumni Group

The purpose of this group is to offer the hundreds of former SBMSA Football players and coaches the opportunity to reconnect and stay informed about the current program. By registering you will receive regular updates regarding the program and information about alumni events, SBMSA Gala’s and important dates for the football season. We are also preserving the programs history by collecting archive materials. Access to this archive will be posted here. Registration is free; please join us.

Who We Are

About SBMSA Football

The Football Program accepts boys and girls from kindergarten through 8^th grade. Our age-based divisions use April 30^th as the cutoff date each year.

Each division has rules requiring playing time for each player, limiting the amount of time a team can practice, and generally promoting good sportsmanship.

Practice locations are determined by the team’s head coach. Typically, the head coach will practice in a location in close proximity to where they and a majority of their players live. Traditional areas/fields in which head coaches practice are at elementary and middle schools.

FALL Practices typically begin about when SBISD school begins (i.e. mid to late August). Games will be once a week starting in September with the regular season ending at the end of October. Playoffs are approximately three weeks lasting through about mid-November.

SBMSA Spirit

Spirit is offered to participants who are in 2^nd – 6^th Grade.

Each individual Coach determines the days, times, & locations of their practices. Generally, a coach will try and practice at a school or park that is close to where the children of their team live / go to school.

Examples by League:

Flag – 1 to 2 Practices per week & 1 Game a Week
7on7 – 1 to 2 Practices per week & 1 Game a Week
Tackle – 2 to 3 Practices a week & 1 Game a Week

Where are the Summer 7on7 Games Played?

Games are typically played at Grob Stadium or the SBMSA Fields across the parking lot from Grob Stadium.

Football Health & Safety - USA Football Certification

All Football Coaches, no matter what League or Age, are required to complete the annual USA Football Certification. The USA Football Certification aids coaches in the understanding and execution of age-appropriate methods for improved safety in practices, drills and games. All of our efforts have a central focus on building the safest possible environment so that players can build their skills while fueling their passion and joy of football. SBMSA Speed Agility Camp

4-day camp (Sunday – 7/26 through Wednesday –
7/29 from 6:00 PM – 7:40 PM each evening) with each day including the following sessions:

1.) Dynamic Warm Up – Focused on increasing an athlete’s movement quality and capacity

2.) Linear Speed – Focused on acceleration and max speed

3.) Multidirectional – Movements trained on deceleration and change of direction

4.) Conditioning – Help develop the athlete’s work capacity and get them acclimated to summer heat

SBMSA Football Skills Camp

Offered to registered and potential SBMSA 7on7 and Tackle football players. 4-day camp held from Sunday – 8/2 through Wednesday – 8/5. Both Tackle and 7on7 participants will receive an SBMSA Football Shirt.
